! Spanish News Today – British woman disappeared on Mallorca golf course before being found dead
Mystery surrounds the death of 61-year-old golfer who disappeared while playing a round with friends on the summit Spanish course
Police in Majorca are reeling after a 61-year-old British man was found dead at the Son Muntaner golf course, one of the island’s top courses. He was reportedly fatally injured and while police initially believed he may have been hit by a stray ball, they have not ruled out foul play at this stage.
There is also a possibility that the unnamed holidaymaker, who was found in a “serious condition” at around 8pm on Friday 27 September, may have had a heart attack and hit his head when he fell.
According to friends who were vacationing with the victim, he left alone in search of his ball and disappeared. They spent some time searching for him before finally finding the man seriously injured.
Paramedics rushed to the scene and tried to revive the man, but unfortunately he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The local National Police Homicide Unit is investigating the incident and an autopsy is scheduled for this weekend to determine the exact cause of death. There has been no official comment from the police or the golf course.
The Son Muntaner golf course is described online as a unique and unforgettable experience for golfers and enthusiasts. It is located between the “Na Burguesa” mountain range and the bay of Palma and is the only route in the Balearic Islands that is part of the famous European Tour Destinations association.
This incident is the latest in a series of horrific accidents involving British tourists abroad. Earlier this month, a 56-year-old man fought for his life after trying to jump into a swimming pool from a balcony in Cyprus. Another Briton was rushed to hospital after falling 15ft from his hotel balcony in Majorca.
