Japanese ex-boxer hails exoneration ‘victory’ after four decades on death row




The world’s longest-serving death row inmate hailed his historic acquittal as a “complete victory” on Sunday, days after a Japanese court acquitted Iwao Hakamada of a quadruple murder in 1966. The 88-year-old former boxer spent 46 years on death row, mostly in solitary confinement.
