Carlos Vargas then recalled the time when he lived in Cartago in Valle del Cauca as a 10-year-old boy: “When I was a child, I was around 10 years old, we were going to live in Cartago. , at that time in Valle del Cauca, all the schools were calendar B and I came from Bogotá, so between those remaining months we started to do the level to be at the level, and they put us in a school close to the house to strengthen,” the presenter explained.

It was thanks to the program Informants that Vargas began tying the threads of this disturbing memory, given that in an interview with the investigative program, one of Garavito’s victims explained how he was abused.

“I was watching the program and the person who is with me started telling a story near Cartago and I see and My mind goes back many years and starts to remember Garavit before the school.Vargas expressed.

The presenter then described the moments when Garavito approached him and almost managed to trick him by promising to give him a pet parrot. Vargas said he was leaving school when he heard a man calling to him from the window of a house outside the correctional facility.

“I went and he starts saying from the window of the house in front of the school: ‘dog, dog’, he jumps across the street about three steps, I saw him because of the same clothes, mustache, his hair. He said to me: ‘Your dad told me that he has give a parrot as a surprise, but I have to give it to you.'”

According to the story, Vargas realized something was wrong because Garavito drove him to the end of the neighborhood where the unpaved road started, which thankfully made him remember his mother’s words about not walking with strangers, so he decided to return home.

“Fear made me tell him no, that I’d rather go home. I go home very scared, I’m a little nervous because I didn’t remember those things, and I go home and I tell my mother and my mother scolds me but obviously out of love because what she wanted was to protect me and nothing bad ever happened.”

The host explained that he never talked about the subject because he thought it was trauma or that it never happened, but when he mentioned it to his mother, she confirmed the story and assured him that she remembered everything that happened.

“It took me a long time to tell my parents because I thought it was an image in my mind. Later I told them about it, mom remembers that moment and it was good that mom told me, ‘Don’t go with people’, but I went with him because he was messing with me that they would kill a parrot.”

In the end, fellow host Mary Méndez, after hearing Vargas’ story, described what hundreds of children who were attacked by The Beast had to experience as a tragedy.

“What a misfortune we have had to live, namely, to have a constant distrust of human beings, because .” “We are the worst species to exist on the face of the earth.
