Free legal help for Latinos in San Francisco, Alameda and Contra Costa – Telemundo Bay Area 48
Seniors living in San Francisco, Alameda and Contra Costa counties will now have a Spanish-language hotline through which they can get free legal help.
The My Rights, My Home campaign aims to reach vulnerable populations, including Hispanics and low-income seniors.
Users only need to dial the number 250 from their mobile and say the keywords “My rights, my home”, then they need to leave a voice message with all their information and later they will be contacted by local legal service providers to provide them with housing-related support, including eviction claims or tenants’ rights issues.
“Housing is a fundamental right. No older person should feel isolated or helpless when facing housing difficulties. With this new service, seniors are just a phone call away. We can provide vital legal help directly to those who need it most, in their language and in their community,” said Matthew Hulse, CEO of Contra Costa Senior Legal Services.
To use this service, people must be 60 years of age or older or be a low-income renter.
It is important to note that this service is free and confidential.
