San Francisco records 94 degrees – Telemundo Bay Area 48
Downtown San Francisco reached 90 degrees Tuesday afternoon, a temperature the region hadn’t seen in nearly two years.
The last time downtown San Francisco recorded temperatures in the 90s was Oct. 19, 2022, according to the National Weather Service. Tuesday’s high temperature was at least 93 degrees according to a reading reported at 1:43 p.m.
Businesses like Marcella’s Taqueria had to install a fan to beat the heat in the restaurant’s kitchen.
According to official records, temperatures in San Francisco are rising every year.
Mary Ellen, a spokeswoman for the San Francisco Emergency Department, said in this situation that they were running programs to help the situation, they gave air filters and air conditioners to organizations to distribute to the most vulnerable.
For her part, London Breed, the city’s mayor, said in a statement that:
“Climate change is a test of San Francisco’s ability to deviate from these situations to protect the most vulnerable (we have) initiatives like the climate resilience program.”
This program provides different resources to overcome the difficulties that these natural events bring, while remembering that the city libraries are open so you can cool off and the swimming pools are free.
