Iran will pay for attack on Israel, Netanyahu said – NBC Bay Area

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu assured this Tuesday, after an attack of more than a hundred missiles by Iran, that the Islamic Republic “made a big mistake tonight and will pay for it”.

Netanyahu’s message, at the start of a cabinet meeting, was his first since Iran fired about 180 missiles at the country on Tuesday night, forcing millions of people to seek shelter.

“The Iranian regime does not understand our determination to defend ourselves and our determination to retaliate against our enemies,” the Israeli leader said in a statement.

“We will maintain the rule we created: whoever attacks us, we will attack them,” Netanyahu reiterated.

Similarly, the Israeli president called the attack a “failure”, which he recalled was “prevented thanks to Israel’s air defense system”, which managed to intercept most of the missiles and left no casualties.

Actions “will be much more serious,” Iran warns

Iran’s government has warned Israel that if it responds to the missile attack it launched this Tuesday, the response it will give “will be much tougher” after it has used only a small part of its offensive capability.

“The resistance front’s attacks on the worn-out and decaying body of the Zionist regime will be more overwhelming,” Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei warned in a message from X.

For his part, Iranian Defense Minister General Aziz Nasirzadeh assured that Iran’s response to a possible Israeli attack would be “much tougher”.

“If the Zionist regime dares to respond, our actions will be much stricter and we will develop a more advanced repertoire of missiles at our disposal,” the minister said, according to Press TV.

It was Iran’s second attack since April

This Tuesday, Iran launched an attack with about 180 missiles against Israel in response to Israel’s redoubled attack on Lebanon, of which, according to the Revolutionary Guards, 90% hit their targets.

“We are fighting the axis of evil everywhere, including our heroic soldiers who are now operating in southern Lebanon and Gaza,” Netanyahu warned, referring to the ground invasion that began this Tuesday in southern Lebanon.

The same threatening tone was adopted by Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari, who also said that this attack “will have consequences” and that the military plans to act “at a time and place” of their choosing.

This was Iran’s second attack on Israel since it first attacked Israeli soil last April in another series of missile and drone strikes.
