France pledges 2025 budget to ‘fully’ comply with EU spending rules
French Finance Minister Antoine Armand has pledged that the 2025 budget will be fully in line with new European Union spending rules as the country seeks to tackle its “colossal” debt through spending cuts and new taxes. Armand aims to reduce the public deficit to 5% of GDP next year, with a longer-term goal of bringing it below the EU’s 3% limit by 2029.
