Deputy Arbeláez questioned the state of the helicopter that fell in Vichada: “It’s a crime”
After a Colombian Air Force (FAC) helicopter crashed in the early hours of Sunday, September 29, 2024, near the municipality of Santa Teresita del Tuparro in Vichada, several congressmen mourned the death of eight uniformed men aboard the plane.

Arbeláez began his message by lamenting the death of men in uniform, for which he sent a message to family members, although he also mentioned the maintenance of the helicopter and military equipment.
“My condolences to the families of the 8 members of @FuerzaAereaCol who lost their lives in the Vichada air crash. What condition was the plane in? Deterioration due to insufficient maintenance of military equipment is evident.
Furthermore, the deputy described as “criminal” the fact that the use of the budget for the proper operation of the National Army’s aircraft is at zero.
“We found 0% fulfillment in the operating budgetin investment programs and resources for the maintenance of these aircraft. “This is really criminal.
