Extreme Heat Warning for parts of the Bay Area – NBC Bay Area 48
The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory on Monday, however, later said that many parts of the Bay Area are now under an extreme heat advisory.
The warning is in effect for the following areas: North Bay Coast and Interior Ranges, San Francisco Bay Coast, East Bay inland cities, Santa Clara County and the Santa Cruz Mountains, according to the weather service.
Authorities said inland areas could reach highs of up to 108 degrees. Areas along the coast, which are also under a heat advisory through Wednesday night, could experience temperatures around 90 degrees.
The weather service reminds the public to never leave people or pets inside vehicles, limit outdoor activities to the hottest times of the day and stay hydrated and take cooling breaks during the fall heat.
