More than 860,000 tourist nights in Tangier at the end of July
Eligible tourist accommodation (EHTC) in Tangier-Asilah Prefecture recorded more than 860,000 overnight stays at the end of last July, according to the National Tourism Observatory (ONT).
Thus, tourist accommodation in Tangier-Assila recorded 860,351 overnight stays during the first seven months of 2024, compared to 864,956 overnight stays in the same period of the previous year, the Observatory clarified in its monthly statistics on the development of tourism, noting that the occupancy rate of these facilities was 45%, compared to 49% at the end of July 2023.
For the month of July alone, EHTCs in Tangier-Assilah recorded 201,276 room nights, up 15% year-on-year, with an occupancy rate of 63%, compared to 69% in July 2023.
The destination of Tangier was able to maintain its position as the fourth tourist destination nationally, after Marrakech (5.55 million overnight stays), Agadir (3.52 million overnight stays) and Casablanca (1.18 million overnight stays). while Fez came fifth with 509,000 overnight stays.
It should be noted that Morocco welcomed 15.35 million tourists at the end of July 2024, an increase of 8% compared to the same period in 2023.
