Russia plans to increase defense spending by a quarter by 2025
Russia will boost its defense budget by almost 30% next year, overtaking welfare and education spending, according to a draft budget. The 2025 defense budget is set at 13.5 trillion rubles ($145 billion), up from 10.4 trillion in 2024. Military spending has reached Soviet-era levels as Moscow maintains its offensive in Ukraine.
