Shootings in the Bay Point neighborhood – NBC Bay Area
An East Bay neighborhood experienced moments of terror when a shooting erupted that left two people injured, including a baby, Sunday night in Bay Point.
The incident occurred around 8:00 p.m., in the 3600 block of Desanie Circle, when police received calls reporting a fight between two large groups of people who then shot each other.
According to police, a man and a baby, aged 7, were injured. The juvenile was reportedly grazed by one of the bullets.
“I saw a person being brought in by paramedics with a bullet in the leg. But before that they brought a baby who was beaten,” said José Haro, a witness.
Residents claimed to have heard several explosions. One witness, who did not want to be named, said he was walking his dog when he had to leave the scene after hearing the gunshots.
“I was working here on the truck when two shots rang out twice,” Jose said.
A father explained that everything was chaos.
“You started hearing a lot of screams like ladies, people running, hiding,” he said.
Two people were arrested by the authorities.
Some residents said the neighborhood is no stranger to gun violence.
“Of course it’s worrying, but unfortunately we’re in an area that we know is a little bit confrontational,” Jose said.
The shooting remains under investigation.
