The creator of Spotify is developing an artificial intelligence scanner that can detect diseases
A human-sized scanner that integrates has been developed artificial intelligenceable to assess a person’s health in less than 10 minutes.
This device, called Neko Body Scanit has the ability to rapidly analyze the health of a patient’s heart, arterial system and blood vessels, a task that would normally take several days using conventional methods.
This technology is the result of the vision of Hjalmar Nilsson and Daniel Eko, CEO of Spotify, who brought the idea to reality. Neko Health is based in Stockholm, Sweden.
An appointment at Neko Health Center begins with patient registration by an operator who will be present throughout the scan. According to the company This person is a trained medical practitioner.
Scanning is divided into several stages. The first part is done while standing, where full body photos are taken in high resolution. This process takes approximately 20 seconds and allows for a detailed image of every centimeter of the body and a complete body temperature profile. At the end of this phase, an accurate representation of the body’s exterior is available.
The second phase of the scan is performed at the bedside with a focus on a complete cardiovascular assessment. In this phase, it is measured how well the heart pumps blood and how well it circulates through the arterial system.
The pulse is measured at seven different points on the body, which makes it possible to characterize the health of the heart and the arterial system as a whole.
The microcirculation, the smallest blood vessels, is also examined to assess their ability to deliver the necessary nutrients to the cells, as problems in this area are often an early sign of disease.
After the cardiovascular evaluation, blood is drawn for analysis of basic blood tests, which are immediately processed in the same center.
The second part of the visit includes a meeting with the doctor. About 10 minutes after the scan begins, the patient meets with the doctorwhich already has all the results completely calculated and analyzed, including blood tests.
Although the Neko Body Scan represents an advance in the rapid detection of health conditions, some experts point out the need to carefully evaluate the accuracy and reliability of its results.
By offering a diagnosis in less than 10 minutes, there is concern that these results may not be as comprehensive or accurate as those obtained by traditional methods, which often require more time.
In addition, the psychological impact this type of technology can have on healthy patients is discussed. Some specialists worry that access to quick and detailed assessments could cause unnecessary anxiety, especially in people with no obvious health problems.
The identification of possible minor anomalies that may not be of clinical significance could lead to overdiagnosis. This phenomenon could lead to treatment or medical follow-ups that are not necessary, subjecting patients to more tests or interventions without a clear rationale.
The implementation of artificial intelligence tools in the medical field has raised concerns about the future of healthcare professionals. However, these technologies are designed to support doctors’ tasks, not replace them.
One example is Perceptive’s robot dentist, which uses advanced T technology.Optical coherence tomography (OCT). This device captures 3D images of the mouth, including areas below the gum line and below the surface of the tooth, providing a more complete view of the patient’s dental condition.
Although a robot can perform some dental procedures, it is not intended to replace a dentist. According to Perceptive, its purpose is to supplement the work of human dentists and thus enable earlier and more accurate diagnoses.
